T1 Internet ServicesT1 Internet service is one of the most commonly employed connections used by small and medium-sized businesses today. There are a number of reasons why so many businesses choose to employ T1 lines; to start, they are one of the most reliable Internet connections, and are available in even the most remote locations.

A Full Internet T1 line offers 24 channels that transmit data at 1.5Mb per second. Internet T1 lines can be configured to run only data, only voice, or a combination of the two. T1 lines also offer flexibility, in that they can be scaled to grow with your business. If you ever outgrow your Internet T1 connection and require more bandwidth, Bonded T1 service is always an option. Bonded T1 service bonds multiple T1 lines together to increase bandwidth. For example, two bonded T1 lines provide 3Mb of bandwidth, 3 bonded T1 lines provide 4.5Mb of bandwidth – and so on.

T1 Internet lines also provide a dedicated connection that is superior to shared services, such as Cable or Digital Subscriber Lines (DSL). While shared services might seem like an attractive option because they offer a lower monthly bill, it is only because you are sharing the circuit with up to hundreds or even thousands of other users. As a result, during peak hours when the majority of those users are online, you will likely be subject to bottlenecking. Bottlenecking occurs when too many subscribers attempt to use the same circuit at the same time. This causes the circuit to slow down to a crawl – or stop completely – making it nearly impossible to get anything done. A T1 line, on the other hand, is a dedicated connection. This means that the circuit is used solely by you and your business and no one else. If no traffic is running over the circuit, it will remain idle until it is used by you again.

In addition, Internet T1 service offers something that shared connections do not: Service Level Agreements. Service Level Agreements benefit the user by outlining specific terms of service that are to be met. These include availability (most providers aim for 99.99% and higher), jitter, packet loss, and mean to repair time. In the event that these terms are not met, you will be issued compensation in the form of a credit on your monthly bill.
