AT&T GigaMAN Service

GigaMANĀ® Service is a dedicated, fiber-optic, point-to-point gigabit Ethernet service that links your local area networks (LANs) within a metropolitan or regional area. GigaMAN service uses the same transmission protocol as your LAN, allowing you to take full advantage of your enterprise LAN speeds while transmitting data between your sites.

GigaMAN Service transmits data at a rate of up to 1.0 gigabits per second – 22 times faster than DS3 service – across the street or across town.

GigaMAN service connects your existing gigabit Ethernet switches with dedicated, single-mode fibers. At each demarc (demarcation point), we install specialized fiber repeaters to serve as network terminating equipment (NTE). The equipment interface is the standard SC (stick and click) connection for multi-mode or single-mode fiber cable.

Features

  • GigaMAN and DecaMAN support a variety of interfaces to suit your requirements;
  • GigaMAN: 1000Base-SX & 1000Base-LX
  • DecaMAN: 10GBase-LR (LAN PHY 1310nm single mode fiber) & 10GBase-LW (WAN PHY 1310nm, single mode fiber).
  • AT&T engineers will design each circuit to meet your current and forecasted network needs
  • May use WDM to deliver multiple circuits over same fiber pair, conserving customer entrance facilities
  • May use on-site intelligent network equipment to support edge-monitoring and to extend signal and/or provide specified interface
  • May use on-site passive network equipment to support edge-monitoring
  • Requirements for your provided space, power, conduit, etc. will be provided by your AT&T representative
